If you choose ‘Family’ when you get your travel insurance quote, family cover is automatically applied.

You can add up to 10 eligible dependants and 2 eligible adults to your family policy.

Families come in all shapes and sizes. Step-parents travelling with their step-children, grandparents travelling with grandchildren, or single parents with kids. If you’re a single parent or grandparent, the kids can be covered on your holiday. Simply add them as dependants on your single policy.

Planning a family holiday is an exciting adventure! When you’re overseas with your family and kids in tow, the most important priority is to keep everyone safe, healthy and happy. By choosing the right travel insurance for your family, you can focus on creating those unforgettable memories without the worry of unexpected setbacks.

Allianz Travel Insurance for families covers you and your spouse/partner and dependents. If you’re travelling with children or grandchildren, they can be covered as a dependant on our Basic, Comprehensive, Multi-trip and Domestic plans.

Your dependant(s) must be with you for 100% of the journey. They can’t be in full-time employment and must be under 25 years old.

To decide which plan best suits your needs, you can  compare Allianz Travel Insurance plans.

No, our family cover includes you and your spouse/partner plus up to 10 dependents. Dependants can be:

  • children
  • grandchildren
  • stepchildren
  • adopted children
  • foster children
  • children you care for under a legal guardian arrangement

Nieces, nephews or siblings will require their own policy. Unless you care for them under a legal guardian arrangement.

Family policies require children to travel with a listed parent or guardian. If children travel alone, each person travelling may require a separate policy.

A family policy covers children even when they attend a kids club or similar activities during your trip.

Domestic Travel Insurance can cover unexpected cancellations, travel delays, lost or stolen luggage or rental car excess while travelling around New Zeland1.
