  2. Policy terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions apply to particular types of losses, premium refunds (full or partial) or claims. This product has a general exclusion, with limited exceptions for epidemics and pandemics. That means we don’t cover claims that arise from, or are related to, an epidemic or pandemic.

    However, you’re covered under selected benefits in this product if, during your period of cover, you’re positively diagnosed as suffering a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, such as COVID-19. Refer to the Policy Wording to see which benefits offer cover in the event you contract a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, and the terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions that apply.
  3. Terms, conditions, limits, sub-limits and exclusions apply, and these are set out in the Policy Wording. Cancellation cover is only available on Comprehensive, Domestic and Multi-Trip Plans. Refer to Cancellation and General Exclusions sections of the Policy Wording for full details.
  4. You do not have cover under this Benefit while travelling in New Zealand.

You could encounter many unexpected events such as lost or stolen luggage, travel delay or other trip disruptions while travelling. Depending on the level of cover you choose travel insurance can assist in these circumstances.

Our Domestic plan for travel within New Zealand does not cover medical expenses. This plan offers benefits related to rental vehicle excess and travel delay expenses. Refer to the Policy Wording for more information on coverage.

You can purchase Allianz Travel Insurance at any point prior to commencing your journey.

You can apply to include cover under your policy for certain pre-existing medical conditions at the time of purchasing your policy. You will need to complete our medical assessment, which can be done online or by calling our team on 0800 553 550.

You may apply cover for pre-existing medical conditions is available in Domestic, Comprehensive and Multi-Trip plans, there is no cover for pre-existing medical conditions under the Basic plan. 

If you decide that you do not want your Policy, you may cancel it within 14 days after you are issued your certificate of insurance. We will give you a full refund of the premium you paid, provided:

• You have not started your Journey; and

• You do not want to make a claim under your Policy; and

• You do not want to exercise any other right under your Policy.

There is no cover under any benefit of this policy if your claim arises because you didn’t follow an advice or warning that a reasonable person would have been aware of, that has been issued by the New Zealand government (when an ‘Avoid non-essential travel’ or ‘Do not travel’ alert is in place), which can be found on www.safetravel.govt.nz; or which was published in a reliable mass media source.

A general exclusion, sometimes referred to as a policy exclusion or exclusion, is an exclusion that applies to all policy benefits. Should a general exclusion apply, your travel insurance policy will not provide cover for the specified event, activities, or circumstances.

An excess means the deduction we will make from the amount otherwise payable under your policy for each claimable incident or event.

An overseas policyholder preference applies. Under Australian law, if The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd is wound up, its assets in Australia must be applied to its Australian liabilities before they can be applied to overseas liabilities. To this extent, New Zealand policyholders may not be able to rely on The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd’s Australian assets to satisfy New Zealand liabilities.
